MIFFest Project Market 2023
Submission Guidelines

1) Introduction

The MIFFest Project Market (MPM) is a feature film project market designed to bring Malaysian filmmakers and storytellers to the forefront and create collaborative opportunities between (inter)national investors, key industry players, producers, and distributors. In the second year since its establishment, MIFFest is thrilled and looking forward to sharing this platform with those creative forces here in Malaysia on the occasion of the 6th MIFFest 2023.

2) Event Date

25 – 26 July 2023

3) Purpose

  • The one-to-one project meeting.
  • Investors, industry decision-makers and venture partners convened in MPM for their chance to meet with the representatives of the Selected Projects, on-site and online pitching meetings.
  • There will be a meeting spaces , where filmmakers may fully present their creative visions and production capability, and where investors may speak freely and unreservedly.

4) Eligibility For Selection

  • The project has an attached production company, producer and director.
  • The project is in any stage of pre-production.
  • The director and the producer must be able to participate in the entire [MIFFest Project Market 2023] together, on 25-26 July 2023.
  • Either the director or producer of the project has to be Malaysian.
  • The project director and producer can only submit a project at one time.
  • Only Feature Film Project.

5) Selected Projects

  • The selected team needs to prepare its own presentation slide, laptop (HDMI cable/converter or any relevant accessories), promotional materials and any other required equipment for the meeting.
  • The director and producer of the project MUST be able to attend the entire MPM meeting (25-26 July 2023).
  • In case of violation to the regulations, MIFFest Project Market reserves the rights to disqualify the MPM project from meeting entry.
  • The MIFFest Project Market committee reserves the right to amend and/or change the rules and related information for the MIFFest Project Market 2023.
  • Submitted materials will not be returned.
  • Once a project wins any of the MPM awards, the project should put the logos of MPM in the opening credits.

6) Project Submission

  • Each entrant shall be required to complete the online submission form on the MIFFest website.
  • A submission fee of MYR 100 is required for each project entry.
  • A confirmation of receipt will be sent alongside with an invoice within 48 hours after the online submission.

7) Submission Deadline

  • Project should be submitted for selection by 25 June 2023.
  • Any projects submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted.

8) Awards

  • Best Project Award
  • Special Jury Award
  • Post Production Award

9) Copyright Indemnity

The entrant is responsible for all necessary copyright clearances for material used in their submitted projects, and shall fully indemnify the Festival from any damage resulting from copyright infringement lawsuits from other parties.
