Synopsis
Jay, a Japanese independent filmmaker based in Serbia, disappears suddenly. The rumors suggest that he committed suicide. Eva, a Macau actress who starred in one of Jay’s films, doesn’t believe the rumors. She decides to visit the Balkans to search for Jay just as the pandemic hits. Unaware that the pandemic and war have changed everything, Eva can’t anticipate the unexpected adventures that await her in the Balkans. As she searches in Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia, both her secrets and the secrets of Jay‘s past are gradually revealed. In the end, does Eva find Jay or does she find only illusions shaped by destiny?

Director
Lim Kah Wai, born in Kuala Lumpur in 1973, studied electrical engineering in Osaka and film directing in Beijing. In 2010 he directed his first film After All These Years. His subsequent films such as Magic and Loss, New World, Fly Me to Minami and Love in Late Autumn have been screened and won awards at many international film festivals. He is considered a “pan-Asian” filmmaker who shoots his films in different countries with different language casts. No Where, Now Here (2018) and Somewhen Somewhere (2019) were filmed in East Europe. His latest film ” Your Lovely Smile” won The Nippon Visions Jury Award in Nippon Connection (2023)
